Oh my goodness, it’s been over a year since I last wrote a blog post! Where on earth does the time go?
Well, I would love to be able to tell you that my time has been filled with lots of activity and excitement, but that would be a lie.

Where Did the Time Go?
It disappeared! That’s where it went. The time just vanished. I sometimes wish there was a way of retrieving it, but, unfortunately, there’s not. And when you realise how quickly time goes, it makes you realise just how precious it is. So try to make the most of every minute.
Make Every Minute Count
Quite often, over the last year, we have had to remember to make the most of every minute.
My mother-in-law hadn’t been very well and was in hospital for quite a while. She has dementia, but she also fell and broke her hip and needed emergency hip replacement surgery. Thankfully, she recovered well from that. After a lengthy stay in a cottage hospital, she moved into a lovely care home. We have peace of mind knowing that she is being well looked after there.
We visit as often as we can, but we live about an hour’s drive away, so, unfortunately, we can’t see her as often as we would like to. Her dementia has destroyed her short-term memory completely and she doesn’t really know who we are unless we tell her. She says that my husband is the man who always makes her laugh and I am a lovely lady who is her very good friend. We’re happy if that’s how she feels about us.
We make the most of our visits and we find ourselves laughing at silly jokes. She always says that it would be a sad life if we couldn’t laugh. And she is so right. As well as laughing, she loves to sing and, amazingly, she remembers all the words to practically every song she hears. I pity the staff, because, when she sings, I sing along with her and I am definitely not a good singer!
Dementia is such a horrible illness. It hard on the sufferer, but possibly even harder on their family members. In many ways, we are lucky at the moment, because my mother-in-law is mostly in good spirits but I know that’s not the same for many sufferers.
My Cousin is Trying to Make Each Minute Count Depsite Having MND
In a post last year, I told you that my cousin in California had been diagnosed with MND (Motor Neuron Disease), or ALS, as it’s known in the USA. My cousin is amazing. He certainly knows how precious time is and he and his family are really trying to make the most of every minute.
MND is one of the most cruel diseases that I have heard of. But my cousin is showing us how much courage he has and, somehow, he has managed to keep his sense of humour. I can only admire him and his family for the way in which they are dealing with this.
Where on Earth Did the Time Go – My Pup is Now Four And A Half Years Old!
I can’t write my first post in over a year and not mention Kip, can I? She is now four and a half. Crazy…where did those years go? Seems like no time since she was a tiny pup that loved cuddles. Now she’s a big pup that still loves cuddles.
You might remember that Kip isn’t without health issues. She is allergic to everything (yes, absolutely everything!!) and needs special vet prescription food as well as medication every day. We thought the medication was working well, but suddenly, she’s broken out in spots again. I despair because I have no idea what has caused it. However, compared to what she has been like in the past, she is much better just now. She had lost a lot of hair last year because of her skin issues, but it is now growing back in thick and fast. She is as lovable as ever and has us laughing every day. And she’s still gorgeous, don’t you agree?

Drawing
I really need to draw my gorgeous Kippy-girl, but I really haven’t been drawing much lately. My back has been misbehaving a little bit too much, so I’ve had to listen to it rather than pick up my pencils. I will get back to my drawing board soon though, hopefully. And when I do, you’ll read about it here.
Pain Awareness Month
I just remembered that September is Pain Awareness Month. I might manage to write a new post for it…but I don’t have a very good track record for writing blog posts lately, do I?
So, in case I don’t, perhaps you’d like to read a couple of my older posts:-

Until next time,
