It’s hard to believe that in a few days time we’ll be celebrating the New Year. Where does the time go? I hope that 2022 is a better year than the last couple we’ve had.
We Need Hope More Than Ever This Year
A few years ago, I wrote a New Year post with a list of good intentions. (I never make resolutions because I know I’d never keep them!) Most of my good intentions were based on self-care but number 6 on the list was ‘be hopeful.’ Looking ahead to 2022, I think we need that hope more than ever.
I don’t know about you, but I never imagined that I’d have to live through a pandemic in my lifetime. After two years, it’s still very much present and doesn’t seem ready to be consigned to the history books.
Many people are becoming more fed up with restrictions and some never got on board with them in the first place. There are still so many conspiracy theories and fake news stories about the pandemic and the vaccines. And throughout the pandemic, there have been too many people who seem not to care about their fellow mankind.
But possibly the most annoying thing we’ve witnessed over the last couple of years is our government’s attitude. Most decisions they make are for political reasons rather than for health reasons. And they keep messing up and making people angry with their do as I say, not as I do attitude. Is it any wonder that people have gone against guidelines when they know that Boris and his buddies are simply doing as they please?
Last year I hoped that the vaccine rollout would change life for everyone. It has made a difference, but we’re still in a bad place. Surely we have to reach a turning point soon?
All I can do as we approach 2022 is hope that we can finally see some light at the end of this very long tunnel. Until we do, I hope that people will follow guidance, wear masks and do what they can to avoid spreading the virus.
We Need Hope
Everyone wishes that the pandemic would end but I’m sure people have many other hopes and dreams.
Lots of people go through life wishing for something better in their lives. They might hope to win the lottery, find a better job or get a bigger house. But when you live with health problems, your hopes and dreams are probably different.
You might hope that doctors gain a better understanding of your health condition and that people have more empathy. You might hope for cures and better treatments. But most often, you probably hope for better days with less pain or symptoms.
Those hopes and dreams often seem out of reach but, even so, you cannot give up on them.
Sometimes hope is all that we have so we can’t lose sight of it. It’s is like a beacon of light which guides us and a life jacket to carry us through from one day to the next.

What I Hope 2022 Brings For You
I live with pain all the time and know just how despairing it can become. I hope that life becomes easier for you and that you’ll find a beacon of light and life jacket whenever you need it this year.
Wishing you a happy and healthier new year. I hope that 2022 is kind to you.
I’d like to say thank you to all of my readers for reading and sharing my posts. The last couple of years have been a struggle for me at times but your messages and comments have helped me more than you know.
Take care of yourself and stay safe.

I’m not sure what happened here but I somehow didn’t get to this until now. Sorry, Liz. Not sure when you posted it but at least I’m here now.
I totally agree on how hope is so important, now more than ever. It has started to feel like Covid will never end, that we’re losing time and not living while we wait it out, and thoughts of “normality” returning start to fade. But I still think this has to end eventually, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed with everyone else that it’ll be sooner rather than later.
There have been a lot of things that have made me feel a constant mix of angry, frustrated, devastated, irate and heartbroken. Like you said with how “there have been too many people who seem not to care about their fellow mankind”, that has really got under my skin. As for the government’s lack of concern for human life, the anger there is palpable. We won’t be forgiving them anytime soon. The country feels broken, and it’s easy to fall into the cycle of negativity and anger and then just despair.
That’s where the hope comes in. We just need to look after each other, do our bit and keep going as best we can.
I love how you’ve ended this. I likewise hope for you Liz that 2022 brings you a beacon of light and an abundance of lifejackets whenever they’re needed.
Thank you for another fantastic post. You make such a difference in the chronic illness & pain community, and I’m glad to be able to call you a friend. So thank YOU too for all you do.
Wishing you and yours all the very best for a brighter New Year! 🥳❤️
xx
PS. I feel pretty sure you used to have dates on your blog post URLs previously. Did you have problems moving to non-dated, like having to redirect old links? Sorry if that’s a really silly question! I’ve been wanting to get rid of dates on mine for ages but the concern of it all going horribly wrong put me off.
Hi Caz, I did have dates but changed that a few weeks ago. I will message you about it.
Oh, I don’t think there are words to describe exactly how we feel about the government.
I hope that 2022 is better for all of us but I really hope that you have a better year healthwise. I know how tough it’s been for you. So sending you love and best wishes for 2022. x
